Adversaries may use NTFS file attributes to hide data from defenses that inspect only a file's default $DATA stream. Alternate Data Streams (ADS) are named $DATA streams associated with a file; Extended Attributes (EAs) are a separate $EA attribute type and require separate inspection from an ADS inventory. This technique applies to Windows NTFS.
