In an authorized WPA/WPA2-Personal assessment, a captured four-way handshake can be used to test candidate passphrases offline; recovery succeeds only if a candidate matches. Capturing the handshake is network sniffing (T1040), and candidate testing is password cracking (T1110.002). This does not recover a domain password. WPA3-Personal uses SAE and provides stronger protection against passive offline dictionary attacks.
