Windows Run and RunOnce registry values and per-user or all-users Startup folders can start referenced programs when a user logs on. When an entry is executed, the program normally runs under the logged-on user's security context and permissions. Microsoft documents a standard-user limitation for RunOnce/RunOnceEx entries in specified Windows client configurations, so verify the hive and logon token before assuming they execute. RunOnceEx is an additional mechanism that is not created by default on Windows Vista and newer.
