On macOS, the deprecated AuthorizationExecuteWithPrivileges API runs a specified tool with root privileges after the required authorization is established. The API does not verify that the requesting program is reputable or unmodified; MITRE also notes that the caller may load world-writable files that can be changed to perform malicious actions with elevated privileges. ATT&CK reports that the deprecated API still functions in recent macOS releases, so applicability should be checked on the target version. This is distinct from Windows UAC bypass (T1548.002) and does not describe AlwaysInstallElevated/MSI policy.
