Adversaries may make a file, executable, command, or other information difficult to discover or analyze by encrypting, encoding, compressing, packing, or otherwise transforming it on a system or in transit. Examples include encoded PowerShell commands, obfuscated scripts, password-protected compressed archives, packed files, and in-memory obfuscation such as Beacon sleep masking. Encoding is not encryption, and these transformations may impede static inspection but do not guarantee detection evasion.
