An attacker who can control a repository can add a command-bearing task to its `.vscode/tasks.json` file. If a user runs the task, VS Code executes its configured shell command or process under the user's effective permissions. A task configured with `runOn: "folderOpen"` can run automatically only when automatic tasks are allowed for a trusted workspace. In Restricted Mode, VS Code asks the user to trust the folder before tasks can run.
