Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) is a Windows management interface that adversaries may abuse for discovery, configuration, or process execution. Remote WMI can use DCOM/RPC (TCP 135 endpoint mapping plus negotiated RPC ports) or WinRM (commonly TCP 5985/5986). The examples below focus on remote WMI process creation over DCOM and are alternatives, not consecutive stages. A WMI process-creation request does not itself return the child process's standard output.
