T1003.002 · MITRE ATT&CK

Extract credential material for local Windows accounts from the SAM database by accessing it in memory or exporting its registry hive. SAM enumeration requires SYSTEM-level access. Offline parsing of an exported SAM requires the matching SYSTEM hive to derive the boot key and recover local password hashes. Direct in-memory dumpers are alternative procedures and may collect more than SAM data.
