Use SQL Server linked-server definitions and login mappings to identify reachable remote database instances and, when the mapped account and server options permit, execute SQL remotely. If xp_cmdshell is enabled and the remote security context may execute it, the destination SQL Server can start an operating-system command under its service account for sysadmin/CONTROL SERVER contexts or its configured xp_cmdshell proxy account for permitted non-sysadmin users. This is linked-service abuse and configuration/permission dependent; it does not necessarily exploit a software vulnerability.
