On Windows NTFS, a file can contain named $DATA streams alongside its unnamed default stream. This entry covers the named-stream (Alternate Data Stream, ADS) procedure only. ATT&CK T1564.004 covers NTFS file attributes, including ADS and NTFS Extended Attributes; T1564.014 is the separate Linux/macOS extended-attribute (xattr) sub-technique. Some ordinary file views omit named streams, but they can be enumerated and inspected; do not assume they are invisible to security tools.
