ESC2 is a certificate-template misconfiguration in which an enrolled certificate has the Any Purpose EKU or no EKU, and an attacker-controlled principal can enroll in that template. The broad-purpose certificate can function as an enrollment-agent certificate in a suitable CA and target-template configuration, allowing a certificate request on behalf of another principal. This is distinct from ESC1: enrollee-supplied subject/SAN is not the defining condition. Successful certificate-based logon depends on template and CA policy, the target certificate's identity and EKU, and the domain controller's current strong-mapping policy.
