Adversaries may append junk data to a binary to change its on-disk representation and whole-file hash. Padding can evade some hash-based blocklists or static signatures and may increase file size beyond limits used by some security tools. It does not guarantee that a particular binary will keep working or evade a control; results depend on the file format and security policy.
