Change a host network interface's current Layer 2 MAC address to a chosen value. This can test or attempt to bypass local network access controls that rely only on the source MAC (for example, MAC Authentication Bypass, when the chosen value is permitted by its policy), if the adapter and driver permit changes; it does not change the IP address or authenticate the device, and 802.1X or other identity- and port-based controls may still deny access.
