Exploitation of insecure Microsoft Excel configuration

Opening a malicious macro-enabled Excel workbook can result in VBA execution only when the deployed Office version, file trust state, and effective macro policy permit it. Microsoft 365 Apps blocks macros in files from the Internet by default. The inspected procedure does not identify a specific vulnerable Excel setting or software flaw, and opening a workbook alone does not prove macro execution; phishing delivery is a separate activity.
