A physical-access forensic method that uses Intel Direct Connect Interface (DCI) debugging to retrieve a BitLocker Volume Master Key (VMK) from memory as the TPM unseals it, then decrypts a forensic volume image. A 2023 study succeeded on one Windows 11 system and could not enable DCI on a second Windows 10 system. This is platform- and firmware-dependent and retrieves the VMK, not the 48-digit BitLocker recovery password.
