Timeroasting abuses the MS-SNTP authentication mechanism on a reachable Windows domain controller: an unauthenticated operator can send UDP/123 requests for computer or trust account RIDs and receive RID-prefixed password-verifier lines. Hashcat mode 31300 can test candidate passwords offline; weak or legacy default account passwords may be recovered. This does not require Kerberos preauthentication to be disabled, and returned RIDs are not account names.
