Ansible is a Python automation platform that runs modules and commands across managed hosts. It commonly connects to POSIX hosts over SSH and Windows hosts over WinRM or PSRP; Windows SSH is officially supported in Ansible 2.18 and later with compatible target and collection support. Centralized inventories and authorized accounts can enable remote execution across multiple systems. Ansible requires a supported POSIX-like control node. Windows is not supported as a direct control node; WSL and containers are ways to run it from Windows, but WSL is unsupported for production.
