Impacket's smbserver.py starts a simple SMB server that exposes a chosen local directory as a share for SMB clients, commonly to stage files for an authorized assessment. The 0.13.1 script supports optional SMB2 (marked experimental), read-only shares, and optional username/password or NTLM-hash credentials; if no username is supplied, anonymous connections are allowed. The script does not provide the psexec/wmiexec execution or smbclient enumeration actions previously listed.
