Oracle Instant Client provides libraries and optional command-line packages for Oracle Database connectivity. Its SQL*Plus package connects to a remote Oracle database using an Oracle Net connection identifier; an operator can issue SQL with the privileges of the authenticated database account. Query results and visible account metadata are limited by that account's grants and the database views it can access.
