Squid is a caching web proxy that can forward HTTP requests through configured parent peers and enforce client access controls. In authorized operations, a reachable Squid proxy can relay web requests toward destinations accessible from its host; it is not a general TCP port forwarder. WPAD requires separate client discovery through DNS or DHCP and a hosted PAC file; setting a Squid listener alone does not enable WPAD.
