chronyc is the command-line client for monitoring chronyd and changing its runtime settings. Its no-argument makestep command tells chronyd to cancel the remaining correction being slewed and jump the system clock by that amount; it does not choose an arbitrary target time. A discontinuous system-time change can adversely affect time-sensitive software.
