Microsoft Windows Script Host's command-line script host. It runs Windows script files such as .vbs, .js, and .wsf using available WSH engines including VBScript and JScript, and scripts can use COM objects. Adversaries can abuse script interpreters for execution, but cscript.exe is a general-purpose host rather than a specific offensive procedure. VBScript is deprecated and its availability is release-dependent; Windows Server 2025 provides it as a preinstalled Feature on Demand, and Microsoft says it will be removed in a later Windows release.
