dnscat2 is a DNS-based command-and-control framework with a C client and Ruby server. It supports authoritative-domain and direct DNS connections, encrypted command sessions by default, remote shells, upload/download file transfer, and local TCP port forwarding through the client (the documented v0.07 mode is similar to ssh -L). DNS query metadata remains observable even though tunnel payloads are encrypted by default.
