mshta.exe is a Windows utility that executes Microsoft HTML Applications (HTAs), including HTA files supplied locally or by URL and inline JavaScript or VBScript. Adversaries may abuse it to proxy script or payload execution. It can bypass application-control policies only where policy does not account for mshta.exe; execution still depends on host controls and the supplied content.
