OpenSSL is a general-purpose TLS and cryptography toolkit. This record covers RSA key generation, test self-signed certificate creation, local file encryption for data staging, and retrieval of the certificate presented by an authorized LDAPS endpoint. Certificate retrieval saves a certificate for inspection only; it neither binds to LDAP nor establishes trust. Key or certificate generation does not create a TLS listener, and the enc command does not transmit its output.
