OpenVPN is an open-source VPN daemon whose client creates an encrypted IP tunnel to a configured OpenVPN peer. Its TLS-based control channel and configured data channel carry traffic through a virtual TUN/TAP interface; the profile and server determine authentication, routes, and reachable networks. Red-team infrastructure can use an OpenVPN tunnel to connect an authorized proxy or operator system to isolated C2 infrastructure. OpenVPN is not an IPsec implementation or a C2 framework.
