Destructive Impact

Impact

GNU Coreutils shred overwrites file data or selected devices with non-sensitive data to make recovery harder, and can optionally remove a file after overwriting it. It cannot guarantee erasure when storage or filesystems do not overwrite data in place, and it does not remove copies held by backups or mirrors.
