NTLM relay forwards a live NTLM challenge-response from an authenticating client to a separate service that accepts it, enabling actions as that principal without recovering its plaintext password. Authentication may be elicited by name-resolution poisoning or a separate coercion technique. Success depends on target protocol protections and the relayed account's rights; collecting a response alone is not successful access.
