Path interception occurs when Windows is asked to start an executable through an unquoted path containing spaces and resolves a higher-level executable candidate before the intended image. Service ImagePath values and shortcut targets are examples. Privilege escalation or persistence depends on the intercepted process being started by a more privileged or recurring consumer. The steps here document the service-path procedure.
